Just finished watching a 'replay' of the first Men's Open final on Rod Laver Arena back in 1988. Pat Cash and Mats Wilander played tonight after FedEx took his semi over Roddick in straight sets.
And wow, it was fantastic to see some of that older style tennis! Serve and volley. Chip 'n charge, stuff that today's players don't have a clue about because of the massive amount of power these days (or brawn over brain) with the new technology and racquets etc.
Pat defeated Mats, and it was an entertaining, fun, but still talented game. Both men are in great condition and active and good on the organisers and broadcaster for arranging and showing it!
