Thanks for this. I often find poetry daunting to purchase: if I haven't met the poet or encountered some major work I'll face a shelf and not know where to start. Worse yet, on-line buying, where I can't even browse inside the book effectively (though I've learned often enough that finding one poem which speaks to me does not mean the rest will do the same). I am dubious about "collected poems of x" because they seem a bit like greatest hits collections...and just like music recordings sometimes there's something which makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts, and those parts divided and rearranged are just lessened.

I studied Berry in college, but prefer my Wallace Stevens as is. Or A.R. Ammons. Just a personal preference.
