Scratch another PSU
Well, I went to turn on my PC today and it was as dead as the proverbial dodo, apart from that acrid burning smell and a nice plume of smoke coming out the back. I knew the power supply unit was on the way out for a while, what with the funny noises it used to make when doing a 'cold start', which is why I tended to leave the computer on for long periods, but still it was something of a surprise.
Anyway, one trip down the road and £15 later and I now have a shiney new PSU installed with considerably less hassle and expense than the last time this happened. Could have been a lot worse, I guess....
