Kawaii Koala

So... one of the presents I'm making for Mom's 60th birthday [the party is on Feb 7 - two weeks away - dear God!] is a crochet fan designed cushion cover. I wanted to learn a new crochet stitch but stupid me decided that it would look better in a thin crochet thread, thus meaning to cover a medium sized cushion it would take a HELL of a lot of stitches. Hence I have been making it for about 1 1/2 weeks and I am loosing my mind. I'm about 2/3 the way through making it, but two days ago I decided I need to stop it for a little while [a day at least] or I would go crazy. Instead I decided to make something different for Mom [yes another present] and this is what I ended up with:

At first I just wanted to do a cute little cupcake bear with this cute yarn I got on sale at Lincraft. So I made the head and ears and joined them. That didn't take long. But once done I just thought it was too cute to just be a head. It really needed to become a proper full bodied bear. Now I haven't actually made a bear yet, so I ummed and ahhed over what body shape to have etc. I eventually had the head and ears from a cupcake bear pattern and the body, arms and legs from a bunny rabbit pattern.

She has two little pink hearts on her chest, and it's hard to see but she has little pink seed beads around her ears. She also has black eyelashes. And this morning and last night I've been doing my head in over her nose and mouth. I tried to stitch one on her but it got lost in her pretty yarn, so that was out. Then I stitched one on felt but that looked stupid. Then I went to Lincraft and bought a packet of noses, but now that makes her look like a koala. So I dunno? I don't know whether to leave her koala nose [she's meant to be a bear!] on or figure something else out? And do I do a mouth on or her just leave her with a nose and that's it?

Luv Bali.
