Re: Only 45 hours this week :-)runningfreeJuly 4 2008, 21:25:01 UTC
At least 45 hours is a lot more reasonable. Too bad every week wasn't like that though. Sure glad you get the day off. Do you have any plans? You must have gone through withdrawl the past few months, since I haven't heard about any wild escapades lately. ;-)
I've done quite a bit of house cleaning this past week as well. Things always look nicer once they're cleaned up. Not that I ever really let things get too out of hand, but I do like a tidy house.
I hadn't heard about the fires. I've been living the life of a hermit I guess. I'll have to stay up on the news a little better. Speaking of fires though, I went to school this afternoon and on my way there I noticed 5 helicopters and 2 school buses at the local 'worker's camp site. I found out that there are 5 fires in the hills north of town. Fortunately the wind is blowing from the south so we haven't had to deal with smoke as of yet.
Time to get some lunch and then figure out what to do with the rest of my day. Have yourself a wonderful few days off and I'll catch up with you later.

I definitely wish every week could be only 45 hours. Maybe one day ...
There haven't been too many wild escapades lately ... usually just my roommate and me drinking wine when we both get off of work. Nothing really too post-worthy. I've gone to my grandma's a couple of times and gotten drunk there though. Haha.
We had something like 500 fires in California. All of this area was covered in smoke for a long while. It seriously looked like winter if you stepped outside. It was crazy. Things have cleared up now though, and I think most (or all) of the fires are out.
We're headed to the store soon to buy stuff to barbeque. Take care.

Lol. I don't think I ever saw either of my grandmothers drink, let alone get drunk with them - or am I being presumptious that your grandma got a little tipsy. ;-)
Whoa! I never realized it was that bad down there. That's freaky. I can't imagine that it was overly healthy to be out and about for long in those conditions. How were driving conditions? Glad to hear it's cleared up now.
For some reason I was totally wiped today. I slept fine last night, probably 10 hours but after only being up for about 5 hours today I had to take a nap. I slept for at least 2 hours. The only thing I can think of that might have caused me to tire out is having worked outside in the heat a lot the past couple of days.
I wish there was something exciting to do around here, or I wish I at least had a good movie to throw on. All that talk about drinking has gotten me thirsty. ;-) Think I'll mix myself a Cherry Whiskey and Ginger and see if there is anything worthwhile to watch on television. Hope your evening is eventful and entertaining. You take care too.

The smoke has finally cleared up. It took a few weeks. There is still a bit of haze from time to time, but mostly blue skies. Driving conditions were never that bad, but breathing outdoors certainly was. Haha.
I can't say that I've ever had cherry whiskey and ginger ... though I also can't say that I care much for whiskey (unless it's SCOTCH ... which is only kinda whiskey. Haha).
Speaking of alcohol, I have to go get ready for an alcohol safety certification class thingie. It's taking up half of my day on one of my days off. :-(
Re: Not Your Regular WhiskeyrunningfreeJuly 22 2008, 05:53:28 UTC
Cherry Whiskey is only 15% alcohol, so it really doesn't taste like most whiskeys, and when you mix it with pop it doesn't taste like alcohol what-so-ever. It's very easy to consume it quickly.
My house is filled with books, binders, games and toys. It's really looking quite messy, which I don't particularly like, but I've been spending a lot of my time doing yard-work. I think I'm going to try and make some storage shelves in the basement for a lot of the stuff. The only problem is I'm really not much of a carpenter.
I finally got my taxes done. I actually netted just over $300, so that was definitely a nice surprise. That should help pay for a good part of the gas for my vacation.
Guess I should get ready for bed as it is closing in on midnight and I'm feeling rather tired from the yard-work. Hope you're doing well and not getting too stressed from all the work. Take care.

Only 15%? That's nothing! ;-) Haha.
When are taxes due up there? Are they on a different schedule than here in the states? I had mine done back in February (and unfortunately had my $1000 return spent by the end of February, haha).
Absolutely nothing going on here. Work work work as always. It's exhausting. I'm considering trying to get a job with our corporate office being a Franchise Business Consultant for the west coast regional restaurants. Not entirely sure if I'm qualified, but it's worth a shot.
I'm actually at work right now. I should be productive. Take care.
