Haven't Posted In Forever

I haven't had time to post lately, nor really anything to post about. Work is eating up all of my time, and it is really starting to take a toll on me. When I'm not working, I'm usually too exhausted to do anything fun. The last two weeks, I have gone to my grandma's house on one of my days off to visit. It was fun, but both times I wound up dozing off for a while since I'm so sleep deprived.

My Regional GM left the company at the beginning of the month to take a better job back in Napa. Currently, I have undertaken nearly all of her previous duties, without a raise in pay (I did get a very slight raise at my last review a couple of months ago ... but it's hardly anything). My owner keeps trying to dump more responsibilities on me, and while I don't mind doing the tasks given, there simply is not enough time (nor am I being paid anywhere nearly enough) to do them all. I have become very disillusioned with my job. I am of course devoted to the company, having worked for them for the last 3 1/2 years, but my situation is far from ideal.

My former Regional GM has offered to talk to her HR person at her new job about hiring me on as her assistant manager. I am keeping that under consideration. I am also starting to look at places that are hiring here in midtown, and I am working on my resume to submit to them. There are a few prospects down here for which my roommate really wants me to apply. I would really like to start working in midtown again, if for no other reason that I won't have to pay so much for gas to commute an hour a day to and from Rocklin. If I cannot find a promising job around here, I will really have to sit down with my owner and ask for a very significant raise. I'm a little afraid to do that, but I know it will have to be done. If it comes to me asking for more money, I think he will have to give it to me. At this point, I have been with the company longer than almost anyone employed at either of our locations (I think there are only two people who have been there longer, and only by a couple months). I am also doing more work than anyone at either location, including doing some things for our Sacramento location even though I am responsible for the Rocklin one. Also, if I were to leave, there is no one in line to replace me. We currently only have two managers per location (which is completely ridiculous), and no one in line to take my place if I quit. Training someone from the outside takes three months ... so I don't know what he would do if I quit.

I'm working nearly 60 hours every week, and I'm constantly broke since I'm not being paid enough and I have to spend so much in gas to commute. It's a very frustrating situation.

I get to work in our Sacramento location today, for the first time since the end of last year. I'm looking forward to it. I then have the next two days off, and I think I will be using them to finish up my resume and submit a few applications around town.

Time for some lunch.

random, work
