Those 11-hour days definitely can wipe you out, especially if you get very many in a row. They also limit your 'social/free-time' which can really suck. Probably more so mine because I tend to sleep 10 or more hours a night whenever possible.
My NYE was okay. I was invited to the arena to go skating with a bunch of people from the church. Needless to say, there was no drinking. ;-(
I went into Grande Prairie yesterday to do a bit of shopping. I bought myself a dress shirt and pants, a supply of prizes for the kids at school, some groceries and another 5 dvds ('Chrystal', starring Billy-Bob; 'The King', starring Gael Garcia Bernal; 'Tigerland', starring Colin Farrell; 'Babel', which I'm sure you've seen or heard of, and 'little Athens', starring John Patrick Amedori among a long list of other 'newcomers'.
Time now to saw up some fire-wood, then head into school to prepare for the week ahead that is too-fast approaching. I hope you were able to relax the other night and I hope you don't have to work 11 hours every day. Take care.

I wound up with three 11-hour shifts (a couple were a bit longer, actually). Then yesterday was my day off, and I wound up having to go in for about 5 hours to take care of some stuff. Basically, in three actual shifts, I've already worked closed to 40 hours (and have Friday and Saturday's shifts to think about still, too).
Officially my title is apparently Restaurant Manager, since the only other manager up there is our Regional GM ... it would look weird if we only had two GMs in the restaurant and nothing else. Hehe.
I've been meaning to watch The King, but haven't found time yet (I say that a lot, don't I?). I love Gael Garcia Bernal's movies. I own several.
I'm more broke right now than I've been in a long time, thanks to the fact that I don't have any serving shifts to supplement my paychecks (we got paid yesterday, but it included my hourly managing wage and serving wage, so the check wasn't that high ... and that money is already spent on bills). I'm concerned about the fact that we fly to Memphis in just over a week, and we don't get paid again until the day that we fly BACK from Memphis. Hopefully I have a credit card with enough money on it to use while I'm in Tennessee.
About time to get ready for work. Hopefully no 11-hour day today. Hehe. Take care.

Hopefully you won't be taken advantage of to the point where you get burnt out or totally frustrated. Too many businesses tend to do that to some of their hardest workers.
'The King' was a bit of a disappointment. G.G.B's character did not come across in a very realistic way (not really sure if it was intended to or not however), and I think most people who do not have a great deal of religious faith would think even more so. Some of the other characters were better played I felt, particularly the son. The plot of the movie was rather shallow as well and did not create the emotions it probably could have, had it been presented somewhat differently.
In my opinion 'Little Athens', once all the characters had been introduced, was a much more appealing movie both visually and dramatically. There were numerous very creative clips and the characters were incredibly realistic, especially the b...itchy girls. I would defintely watch this movie again whereas 'The King' I'm afraid would not receive such glory.
I sure hope you round up enough money to make your trip enjoyable. I'd hate to see you have to always be eating at Taco Bell.
Time to head home and get some supper. I think I'll be getting to bed early tonight as I did not sleep well last night. Stay cool.

I don't feel that I'm being taken advantage of ... I just have a lot of responsibility. I wound up working 54.5 hours last week. It was a long week. I had yesterday and today off, but I had to go in briefly today for a meeting with our field consultant. The next two days I work doubles, probably 11am-11pm.
Well, in terms of eating in Memphis, pretty much everything is taken care of with our conference fees; we'll be having dinners with the other managers from around the country.
