Paris

After spending 3 days in Paris I have to say I really like the city so far.

We arrived on thursday morning and since the hotel didn't allow check in before 2pm, we grabbed breakfast/lunch at a cafe right next to the hotel, then wandered over to the Eiffel Tower which was only a couple hundred meters from the hotel. The lines for the elevator didn't look too intimidating so we took the time to stand in queue (tho Fred and Jan decided to take the stairs, and met us at the top). I've been in the Eiffel Tower once before when I was a kid on trip with my mother and siblings, but thats like 25 years ago and we only went to the first or second landings. This time I went straight to the top. The view there is magnificent.

The rest of thursday was spent checking in, showering and relaxing. We went out for dinner at a resturant which had alot of game dishes and it was sooooo yummmmmyyyy...

Friday was Louvre day. The entire day... From 11am to 8pm... Egads that place is big. It makes the egyptian sections in the British Museum look small.. It makes the art galleries at the Uffizi Gallery in Florenze look small, it makes the Vatican Museums look small.. I do have to say that the last hour or so we went on brain shutdown almost... "Art... more art.... Reubens.... Rembrandt.... Van Dyck.... art....".

On saturday we headed over to the Catacombs, a very interesting place filled with the bones from cemetaries that were closed and removed. Skulls and bones stretching for forever it seemed like.

Today we're checking out of the hotel, and going to deposit our luggage at the train station and go see the Invalid Hotel, which houses the Army Museum and the Tomb of Napoleon.

Then tonight it's onwards to Hamburg and the end of the trip..
