Hulo all.
I'm writing this off-line to try and avoid the long arm of the watchers here. "Up to and including termination" doesn't sound good to me, not so much.
------------------------
We did *two* new songs at church last weekend, "History Maker" (by delerious?- not a question, "delerious?" is the name of the band), and. "Holy Moment," (By Hillsongs United- I *think*).
Both songs take critical listening and serious practice to get the bass part right. I played them well enough that people could recognizre the song from the bass line. I was still a little off on my rythems in places, but oh well, it's not brain surgery. People seemed to get into it, regardless of our imperfections.
We have a concert coming up this weekend on Sunday evening, and this time I get to play instead of run sound. Don't get me wrong, I love the art and science of making a band sound it's best, carving out a sonic niche for each instument and voice.
As much as I do love all that, there is something delightfuly, incredibly awe-inspiring about being able to make the floor rumble under your feet, pulsing, shaking, and pushing the music forward.
It is just pure magic.
That is why my LJ is called a bass player's adventures in life. That is how I think of myself. A bass player, a musician. Music is my gift to God, and God's gift to me. To be able to do what I love, for the Creator of the universe, what an awesome thing!
It's also a boatload of fun.
(;-)

PS! Just found out that Pastor HR found my mp3 player *and* all my good headphones, right where I left them and put them in the office for safe-keeping. Whew, what a relief!
Happy me. (:-)
