This is an adaptation of the anime of the same name, although I can't tell if Shinkai Makoto mostly came up with the original storyline for the anime and Sahara Mizu did the adaptation, or if Shinkai wrote it and she illustrated it ( Read more... )

How interesting--it almost sounds like there's more of the story here than in the anime adaptation.

I'm a big fan of Shinkai's work: I have always wished there was just a little bit more narrative in his stories to go with the awesome visuals of the anime, and I have my fingers crossed that his next project, whatever it may be, will be the one in which he brings all the pieces together.
