Vimes is about to retire from the Guard, only before he can, he and Carrot have to solve a series of mysteries regarding a strange weapon that fires lead projectiles really, really fast. And we find out a wee bit more about that birthmark Carrot has...

Gotcha. I'd been planning on reading it just because I wanted to see Pratchett on China, but am wavering a little. I don't want to throw one of his books at a wall!

Basically, it's boring, unfunny, stars Rincewind (who has since been dropped as a character, presumably because all the books starring him sucked), and wasn't really about China, but about Western ideas about China. I mean, the latter was what he was trying to satirize, but it really didn't come off well. I think you would throw it at a wall. I didn't throw it against a wall, but I immediately sold it to a used bookshop.
