Urasawa Naoki - 20th Century Boys, vol. 20-22

It's over! Wah! Though I was briefly confused despite rilina already having told me that a 21st Century Boys existed, and I couldn't really figure out if it was over or not. I blame the Japanese publisher. Usually there is a handy-dandy "Complete" kanji on the spine for completed series, and it wasn't on vol. 22, and when it listed the publishers' series, it didn't mark 20th Century Boys as complete.

Anyway.

KENJI!

If I could keep my review down to about three words, it would be: "KENJI AND KANNA!" Maybe with an extra "EEEEEE!" tossed in for emphasis.

Anyway, there do seem to be some hanging threads, such as.. who is Friend 2? Did that ever get resolved, or did I just miss that in my Kenji-squee? And how in the world is Sadakiyo still alive? And how exactly did Otcho stop the robot?

I was a little iffy on Kanna going to bed, all innocent and helpless, and then being menaced by the robot and presumably being saved by Kenji. But I love that she reacts to a giant robot waking her up by going to her window and standing up to it defiantly. Kanna rocks so much.

And the music festival! Going back to Woodstock and trying to create another music festival to change the world! I love Haru Namio and the drummer guy appearing in their rock clothes, waiting for Kenji to show up, and everyone trusting that Kenji will indeed make it. And those last few pages -- perfect.

Oof. I should have written this up right after I read it, because now I can't remember all the cool bits that I wanted to jump up and down about. But mostly -- apocalyptic Woodstock! Whoo!
