The Collector 1x05-1x10

I think I am just not quite grokking this show. It's not that it is bad; the last episode I watched was actually pretty good. But I still don't really care about Morgan's Tragic Past and his Incredible Angst, no matter how good he looks with stubble and sans shirt.

There also aren't enough women or minorities in this show; the main female characters tend to be rescued by Morgan, or they are concerned mothers. Still, I think I'll finish the season just to see what's up with Creepy Little Boy.

Spoilers for all 6 eps.

So I don't really remember everything that happened, but as promised, the episode on the children's book writer was nicely creepy, morally ambiguous, and ended with Morgan getting his ass thoroughly handed back to him by the devil.

I felt this was a good thing, as a show with the devil as a character should remember that the devil is a pretty powerful being.

I'm still not that into the female reporter whose name I forgot, though her kid is creepy. I am hoping that her kid somehow channels angels, given that he's named "Gabriel" and draws them. But I hope the angels are even creepier than the devil. That would be cool.

The love interest still bores me, especially because she got kidnapped and tied up and left as bait. I was hoping that she'd be awake and find out about Morgan's demonic nature, but alas, it was not the case.

Morgan's past angst still sort of bores me as well, largely because the nun has very little personality outside of looking blonde and pretty and being kind and generous and helpful to people dying of the plague.

But the entire deal with the devil thing is getting more complicated, and I like that the devil rigged the children's book writer thing so that a serial killer got to walk free, and he got to rub Morgan's nose in it for wanting to give everyone a chance at salvation.
