Westerfeld, Scott - The Last Days

This is a sort of sequel to Peeps, which I adored. It doesn't have the same focus, though. While the focus of Peeps was on vampires and parasites and the entertwining thereof, The Last Days is a band book. Only, the kids are trying to form a band while the apocalypse rages around them.

I didn't like this quite as much as Peeps, largely because a) I'm not that interested in band books, b) I loved the parasitology of Peeps and really missed it, c) I didn't get as good a feel of the characters because there were 5 POVs and d) I'm really not quite sure why.

The narrative is fun and fast-paced, like all of Westerfeld's YA books, and I enjoyed that the apocalypse promised in Peeps really started. It's not grim, for those of you scared off by apocalypses (apocalypsi?). It's a rather fun apocalypse, and it adds a little to the world-building from Peeps.

I think the problem really is that I loved Peeps, and I miss the parasites.
