AFA Spring Taikai 2012... REPORT!!!

Feb 07, 2012 02:44

Warning: Lol this is a blog. I am now a fan of all three of the people mentioned here. I am not afraid to bash any one of them sportingly. Hey, nobody's perfect. That's what makes them awesome.

[PICSPAM! AHEAD]

So on Sunday, c_e_ocean_dark and I decided to meet up to go for AFA's Spring Taikai 2012 to see DAGERO and KANAME. LOL we were commenting about how everyone online was like "OMG DAGERO DAGERO DAGERO" and there were very few KANAME fans (in our view) who were excited about him coming down (again) to Singapore.

I woke up bright and early at 8am to go for service before going to Orchard to *SCAPE to meet c_e_ocean_dark and look at the available merchandise there. AFA had apparently said that they were going to sell stuff at 10am and people who buy them get to go for a HOMG HANDSHAKE SESSION with the epic trio. So we thought that we were very kiasu already to come at 12pm when the event officially started at 3pm to look at the stuff to buy.

When I got there at 12pm, I got a damn big shock can. There were like at least 50 people outside the AFA shop already! And the worst thing was THIS AWFUL SIGN on their wall:

EVERYTHING HAD BEEN SOLD OUT. WHAT THE HELL. So I called Smee and eventually we decided to buy the shirt because the mug was useless and, at that point in time, neither of us were fans of KANAME and, as a self-respecting fan of Dasoku, I didn't want that ugly photo set.

Why? Because he was totally unshaven in that photo shoot. Unshaven Dasoku = WTH don't-know-how-to-take-care-of-himself Dasoku. So no.

So I bought the shirt for Smee and me and decided to wait for her. I swear to God there were fans bloody camping at the place can. I asked the nicer organiser lady when did the stuff sell out and she was like "Eh... within an hour or so?" Then I asked her when did the fans come and she was like "Oh about 9am...?" Then she told me that the HANDSHAKE SESSION will start at 3pm but the queue will start at 2pm. Oh, she mentioned that we had to shake all their hands and then move on. (Smee and I laughed later because KANAME seemed like the add-on to DAGERO that nobody wants... I'M SORRY KANAME ;A;)

Eventually Smee came and we both went for lunch at Taka. Smee had a friend coming and I met her after lunch and we went back to the AFA shop to wait for the event to start. At 2pm, the lady got everyone to queue outside the building (cue squeeing from fangirls) and nicely told everyone to hydrate themselves while we waited.

That queue was the start of everything. We queued for over an hour and we were within the first 50 fans of the session. I was griping about our purpose there, and talking about us being old and auntie-like because every single fangirl there was definitely in their teens! Some were even doing homework while we were waiting! I was moaning and griping and being bored and annoying to Smee and her friend before she had the bright idea to use my phone to stalk DAGERO on twitter to see what they were up to back stage.

We were also discussing what to say to them when we met them. Smee and her friend were worried about what to say to KANAME because we were totally not interested in him while my worry was what to say to DAGERO because they totally didn't understand English LOL

Smee: You can just tell them anything...
Me: I'll tell Dasoku to shave.
Smee: There she goes again...

Eventually Smee taught us how to say "Thank you for coming here" and "Good luck for the concert later!" but I forgot it about three times and she had to repeat it again and again until I got it. (It's still here in my head too.)

THEN AFA SHOWED THIS PICTURE ON FB:

Left to right: Dasoku, KANAME and Gero

OHMAIGAWD I WAS LIKE LET'S GO TO THE THIRD FLOOR AND STALK THEM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN'T YOU SEE THAT IT'S TAKA THERE AT THE BACKGROUND LET'S GO I AM SO BORED

Smee just ignored me. LOL we went back to complaining about AFA sucking our money dry because they were baiting the fans to such a degree BY DOING THIS TO US (they did worse things later) and we whiled the time away by poking fun at other fans and complaining about the weather. Later, the nicer organiser lady came out to tell us that if we had any gifts, we had to put them in the box and that there would be no autograph session and all that photography nonsense because we had to be nice to all the other fans waiting behind us. Smee and I were like, "Screw that, we wrote our letters, we wanna pass it to them personally."

THE TICKETS

Finally at around 3:40pm (LATE BUGGERS) they opened the doors and the handshake session began! The trio was standing at the counter in the AFA shop and I tell you, they moved the queue super fast! We were hustled forward and before I knew it I was standing in front of KANAME, who shook my hand warmly with both of his (I said "Hi") and then suddenly Gero was in front of me and he looked at me and said "THANK YOU!" and I was like ASDFGHJKL GERO IS IN FRONT OF ME and I shook his hand with a kind of frozen grin and then BAM Dasoku was in front of me and I shook his hand too and then I remembered to give (more like shove) my letter into his hands and he was like "OH!" very loudly. LOL

The trio saying hello to fans! juin_kadsuki thought that they were like on display LOL

Then we were shoved out of the shop by THAT BALD ORGANIZER. We went out and the crowd was enormous! I shoved my way back to the front and shamelessly took pictures of them in the shop. I remember seeing Dasoku mouth "Kawaii" to the crowds of fans around the shop, squeeing.

Smee: Look, Dasoku just said "kawaii".
Me: (snapping away furiously) Are you sure he didn't say "kowaii"?
Smee: ... I don't think so... There's a bit of a difference...
Me: That's what I would say...

So this is them at the counter (shamelessly stolen from AFA Facebook):

The only impression I got was how thin and pale Dasoku looked in comparison to the other two LOL he's the shortest and probably the thinnest. Curse you, bachelorhood! And the simplest dressed too. Apparently they had reached Singapore at around 3am before going to their hotel room and resting. Dasoku woke up at 10:30am with a simple "I'M AWAKE!!!!" on his Twitter. Gotta love his simplicity.

After that, the trio retired into the Warehouse, where the concert was about to be held and then they shut the doors in our faces. LOL the nicer organiser lady used her loudhailer and told us that the concert started at 6pm and we could start queuing from the back. There was an immediate stampede towards the designated area, so much so that the organizers had to separate the whole row of fangirls and make us stand further apart because apparently the queue was blocking some shops' entrances and they didn't like it.

By the way, this happened at around 4pm.

So this was the queue then:

The entrance is much further away, after the bend at the right side of the picture. So the organizers told us to sit ourselves down and get comfortable, because we were going to be waiting for a while. We sat down and started discussing dinner plans (because we were that practical) and our options were only Toast Box, Cheers or MacDonalds'. Smee's friend went off to buy Gong Cha's bubble tea first, while Smee and I waited and thought about what to do. When she returned, the organizers were walking about and announcing something with the loudhailer.

Organizer lady: We've gotten Dasoku to autograph some of the pictures of the photo sets, like about 10%, and we've shuffled them together so we're going to start walking around and letting you guys choose! It's quite exciting! Try your luck! Maybe you can get his autograph!

My first notion was "No. I hate those photos" and seriously, they were online already in bigger, higher resolution format. Smee's friend was like encouraging me to try it out since she had already bought the pictures. They mentioned this just as Smee and I were going to buy our bubble tea. After a mammoth wrestling bout with myself, because I really, really don't like the pictures, I went to the organizer and asked to be able to try it out.

... After I asked a few questions, of course. We only got one chance to pick and we HAD TO buy whatever we picked, regardless of whether we got the autographed picture or not. (See, sucking us of our money =_=) I was like HNNNGGGGG UGLY PICTURES VS AUTOGRAPH and was like "Heck. I'm not really lucky at this sorta thing. God, please let me get it."

So I randomly put my hand in and pulled out a photo set.

Organizer: Oh! Hey! You're really lucky! You got it!
Me: Oh! Wow. So, $15 right? [Then to Smee.] Smee. I got it.
Smee: What?! Are you serious?!
Me: Yarh. Really.

In retrospect, my best purchase of all. The most worthy of all my money spent. Seriously, I can die satisfied now.

Now my eyes train towards the signature and away from the picture. HOMG THE STUBBLE. THE STUBBLE ARRRGGHHH WHY DID THEY HAVE TO PUT SPRING TAIKAI AT THE CORNER?! IT'S NOT LIKE DASOKU TOOK THIS PHOTO SHOOT FOR THEM! IT WAS FOR ANOTHER EVENT! AARRRGGHHHHH

SIGNATURE. IS. SO. BEAUTIFUL. FOCUS ON THE SIGNATURE.

Then we bought our bubble tea and our toast from Toast Box after walking around Cheers and not seeing anything worthy of eating. We bought plain water because we thought that we were going to need more water later and settled down to eat our dinner. I think my response was really muted compared to the fangirls behind us. I remember hearing screaming two more times while we were buying our bubble tea. LOL

Smee and I were talking about this, how we no longer have the doki-doki moments when we came in contact with the stars. I remember being totally breathless when I stood in front of the three of them but after that, nothing lol. I remember hearing a fangirl in front of us moaning about how Dasoku was so handsome and cute and etc etc and she was like "I THOUGHT I WOULD DIE" or something to that effect. But for us... nothing.

While eating, we decided to check in on DAGERO again on Twitter and found them doing stupid stuff back stage. Apparently, they had discovered the locker room and were taking turns to go into the lockers because they are that free and stupid and were taking pictures and uploading them on Twitter.

Dasoku in the lockers. Yes, that's his butt. [Taken from Gero's Twitter]

Then they switched.

Gero in the lockers. Yes. Damn free. [Taken from Dasoku's Twitter]

Apparently, Dasoku was thin enough to fit into the lockers nicely BUT GERO WASN'T LOLOLOL Gero then tweeted that he had "locker trauma" or something from being stuck in the lockers. LOLOLOL IDIOTS

We then waited for a while more before they finally let us go into the concert location! They set things up so that there were 15 rows,, split into two columns, with 10 seats in each row. Thus there were like 300 people at the event only? But still pretty awesome!

Finally they started the event but they had SUPER ANNOYING emcee with such a nasal and ugly, bored voice to emcee the whole concert and he just ruined everything. He was like totally bored with the event and didn't know anything about the utaite-san and they probably got him only because he could speak decent Japanese and he just pissed the three of us off instantaneously with his damn disgusting voice.

They had two opening acts: OVA-HITO and QUIS and both of them were pretty good. I liked QUIS better though, they had a more polished, smoother feel.

The annoying emcee in the checkered shirt and that damn bored pose, with the front man of OVA-HITO

OVA-HITO sang:
"Shissou" By Last Alliance (Ouran High School Host Club)
"Haruka Kanata" By Asian Kung-Fu Generation (Naruto)
"Kon'ya Tsuki no Mieru Oka ni" By B'z (J-drama Beautiful Life)
"Monochrome no Kiss" By Sid (Kuroshitsuji)

WE ALL DIDN'T RECOGNISE SHISSOU LOL. WE THOUGHT IT WAS LARUKA. XDDD THE SONG LINK until the guy said it was otherwise and we were all like "Damnit we're idiots."

QUIS was rather amusing; the lead singer came out with a music stand and a red iPad, for crying out loud! He totally didn't memorize his lyrics! HAHAHAHA

DAT IPAD LOL

QUIS sang
"Re:Re:" By Asian Kung-Fu Generation
"Core Pride" By UVERworld (Ao no Exorcist)
"Wherever You Are" By One OK Rock
"Butterfly" By Kouji Wada (Digimon)

But I really like this band better. They're much clearer and seem more confident on stage. Ah haha really, they have a cleaner and more polished sound than the first one. They really knew how to work the audience, singing an awesome ballad to lull everyone to happiness before launching into the awesome Digimon hit to end off on a high note. xDDD

HOMG The three of us were sitting next to this male Gero fan who waved his light stick IN SUCH AN AMUSING MANNER WE ALL DIED. He was like attempting to stab the person in front of him, from the way he was waving the light stick! All three of us were laughing horribly at him and just playing the Psycho music in our head LOLOLOL

Next was the talk section! We had to deal with the emcee being there with the trio and talking to them. He actually sounds decent in Japanese (i.e, less annoying) but whenever he lapsed into English, it was just fail.

But when they intro'd each of the men, they were all so cute! KANAME bounced out excitedly, while Gero was a little early in his entrance and Dasoku lagged for a minute before poking his head out adorably and drifting over to his seat. We died of laughter and cuteness.

He asked normal questions like whether it was their first time here in Singapore and all that jazz. KANAME was really cute here. He was speaking in English and being so totally adorable with his "Tadaiima!" and the fans were like squeeing "Okaeri!" back at him since it was his sixth time here in Singapore. Gero was totally enthusiastically saying that it was his first time here and he was totally hyped up about it while Dasoku was spacing out A LOT. When asked the question, he blinked and paused and said...

"Tadaiima?"

And everyone went totally wild and shrieked "Okaeri!" back at him.

The emcee also asked about what they thought about the local bands that performed earlier and KANAME was so adorably squeaking that "I'm so happy that I can sing along with them!" while Dasoku and Gero were like "They're good! Not bad! Decent Japanese." AH HAHAHAHA.

Then he asked about their Thailand trip and how it was and they were like totally hyped up and excited and told us not to lose to the Thai fans. That kicked off the singing section and KANAME was up first to sing. He talked about being totally nervous about having to sing but everyone was like KYAAAA HE'S SINGING HOMGGGG and totally did not care. Dasoku then gave him an awesome bro-fist for good luck before his performance.

KANAME SANG:
"Days" By Flow (Eureka Seven)
"Blue Forever" By Make-Up (Saint Seiya)
"1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou" By Siam Shade (Rurouni Kenshin)

He was speaking in hesitant English throughout his performance, talking about his Kaito cosplay (and its blueness) and asking us random questions like "Do you like/know... Eureka Seven?" or "Do you like/know... FLOW?" and all the fangirls were just screaming their lungs out at his epic cuteness and Engrish. Before his Blue Forever song, he was like "Do you like... blue?" We were all screaming that we did and he was like "I like blue too!" and pointed to himself LOL And we died again because of his shouta cuteness.

He was very energetic as well, dancing around and doing a really super duper adorable air guitar here and there in front of the audience. And he FORGOT HIS LYRICS LOL IT WAS SO ADORABLE! He would sing and then lapse into silence as the music went on and continue on again. HE FORGOT LYRICS IN ALL THREE SONGS and we were like LOLOLOL OMG HE'S TOO CUTE ALREADY

Seriously, he more than made up for it with his earnest and active air guitar during the instrumental parts.

Then the emcee came back and ruined everything. He kept harping on the fact that KANAME forgot his lyrics and making him feel damn bad. Like when the emcee came out, KANAME was like orz to him for forgetting his lyrics and everyone was like shrieking "DAIJOUBU DAIJOUBU" or "GANBATTE" to him to encourage him.

That performance converted ALL THREE OF US into KANAME fans. LOL

Next up was Gero!

Oh that guy is a pro, man! He was the only one to sync the audience's light stick waving (homg yes they were selling light sticks to everybody that money-sucking group) and taught everyone how to scream like he did. LOL

GERO SANG:
"Scissorhands" By Hatsune Miku
"Blue Dream" By Hironobu Kageyama & Broadway (Saint Seiya)
"Nisoku Hokou" By Hatsune Miku

HIS VOICE IS HOMG AWESOME. He screamed occasionally but not as much as one would expect LOL and his Scissorshands was damn ero can, he stroked his chest at the "Aishite" part and everyone was like ASKJDHKJGFAK;SDHALSDGASDGASD; GERRROOOOOOOO!!!! And he let us sing along with him! XDDD HOMG HE'S AWESOME. He really has a damn good voice lol. For the last song, people were requesting "Ponponponpon!" and he sang the first two lines before he collapsed into laughter and died. XDDDD

And then I think some equipment at the side of the hall collapsed, making a lot of bangs and Gero looked quite shocked and said "PON PON PON PON!" in response to it.

AND WE ALL DIED LAUGHING

That guy has an epic sense of humour.

He then called out Dasoku who, being the traditional lazy guy, just strolled onto the stage and started singing WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING. LOL

DASOKU SANG:
"Interviewer" By Megurine Luka
"Kagefumi Etranger" By Hatsune Miku
"E? Ah, Sou." By Hatsune Miku

HOMG HIS VOICE IS DAMN DEEP AND RICH CAN. JUST LIKE CHOCOLATE. I DIED LISTENING TO HIM. SERIOUSLY. Smee was telling me to say "KIMI DESU" in the first song at the correct question BUT I COULDN'T HEAR IT LOL so it was a missed chance. LOL

BUT HNNNGGGGGG HIS VOICE IS SO MUCH MORE AWESOME IN REAL LIFE. I WISH I COULD RECORD IT. AND THEN LIKE. PLAY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. ;A;

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE ;A;

But he was a crappy stage performer. He just stood around and sang the songs. Walked here and there. Pointed weakly at people. Left, right. Walk around. Point. Walk around. Swish hair. Walk. Bend down to front row. Walk. Nod at people.

NOTHING LOL. But at the second song, which was quite a rockish song, there was an instrumental part and he decided to air guitar that section AND IT WAS SO WEAK LOL. HE AIR GUITAR'D SO SLOWLY AND LAMELY like he couldn't be bothered to seriously air guitar and WE ALL DIED LAUGHING AGAIN, TOTALLY WTH-ING AT HIS PERFORMANCE LOLOLOL

But he did manage to talk a bit. He has a very nice natural laugh! He was talking and teasing the fans, asking them if they knew what he was going to sing next. Fans were like "YES YES WE KNOW" and he asked "What?" and they couldn't respond so he started laughing! And it was such a beautiful, natural and easy laugh. I fell in love with him again! He also asked whether we liked Moka or him better and everyone replied "MOKAAAA" and he fake threw his mike and fake stomped off the stage. EVERYONE LAUGHED AGAIN.

And here's Moka!

SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL ;A;

We were all on our feet and screaming throughout all their performances, shrieking and singing along with them, waving madly and being totally hysterical and shrieking. XDDD IT WAS SO FUN LOL

For the special section, the trio sang "GO!!" by FLOW, a Naruto theme song. When they came out, Dasoku and KANAME tripped Gero up and freakin' DRAGGED him across the stage and he was screaming "HELP! HELP!" and we were all dying of laughter! Then Dasoku and KANAME linked hands and danced around the stage together while Gero was left on the floor alone.

KANAME KOPED A FEEL OF DASOKU'S BUTT. I SAW IT. HIS HAND WAS AT DASOKU'S BUTT BEFORE MOVING TO HIS WAIST. HOMG THE BROMANCE IS KILLING ME.

So I was paying attention to what Dasoku was doing on stage and made a makeshift map to show what he did, which included STRETCHING, WANDERING AROUND, SHAKING HIS UPPER BODY LEFT AND RIGHT and being totally random. He was the LAZIEST of them all! He only sang the "FIGHTING DREAMERS" part while Gero and KANAME handled the verses.

YES HE WANDERED TO THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE, WONDERING WHETHER TO TAKE THE PLACE AS THE CENTRE PERSON WHEN THE SMOKE MACHINES CHOKED HIM AND HE HAD TO RETURN BACK TO THE SIDE. THE THREE OF US SAW IT AND WERE LIKE HOMG DASOKU WTH ARE YOU DOING YOU IDIOT LOLOLOLOL

In the end, he stuck to his corner and KANAME took the centre and Gero took the right. HE STARTED STRETCHING FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT ALL. IT WAS TOO FUNNY.

Yes and Gero took a fangirl's light stick from the left side of the audience, waved it around... and threw it to the right. The poor fangirl... Goodbye $2 and Gero's sweat...

Then he took a fan-made board from the right and waved that around, and thankfully returned it to its rightful owner.

Finally the concert was at an end (EEEEHHHHHHHHH??!?? from all the fangirls, including us) and they took a little break before continuing the questions section.

I didn't really pay attention to what was said here, except that KANAME is considering going into singing and Dasoku is very busy next week because of all that RootFive tours and all that. KANAME had a 4x4 compact mirror? badge? thing and threw it into the audience (to much squeeeing) and Dasoku threw a Daso9 shirt with Moka's paw print on it to the audience as well. (That one had more fighting LOL)

Then it was the group photo shoot! We were the 9th row and we stood nearer to Dasoku! This fangirl was directly behind KANAME and doing some creepy thing to him. LOL I wanted to hi-five with Dasoku or Gero but THAT EVIL ORGANIZER shoved us away gently while Dasoku just waved in a bored manner. I guess he just wants to sleep.

Oh! While we were waiting for the front rows to take their pictures, the stack of chairs that the organizer was packing SUDDENLY COLLAPSED on the gate at the front of the stage! Gero looked over calmly and said, "PON PON PON PON!" again and we all LOL'D.

After that, we decided to wait for them out at the back for... nearly two hours because they were SLACKING and doing some interview backstage, I think. There were some rabid fans singing songs and being totally high and happy while we were all like "Don't you guys need sleep? Hurry up, come out and go home!"

Okay... now we know what they were doing at the backstage. [Taken from KANAME's Twitter]

They camwhore so much lol!

Eventually we saw them come out at like 11plus and shrieked well-wishes and goodnight to them as they drove off into the night. KANAME was really nice and talked to some fans for a while (unfortunately we were at the wrong side ;A; facing THAT EVIL ORGANIZER) but we managed to wave goodbye to Gero who had a mask to cover up his face! DDDD: I hope he isn't ill.

WE WENT HOME. AT LAST. TIRED BUT HAPPY. YAAAYYY.
