My mother gave me a bag full of feijoa that her neighbours had given to her. I'm cutting them in half and scooping out the flesh with a teaspoon. Yum.

people ask me to describe the flavour. all i can say is they're kind of like pears. but different.

A cross between pears and guava? It's been so long since I've had fresh guava (when I was in PNG) as opposed to just juice, so I'm not sure...

yes! that's the other thing i say, but like you point out, hardly anyone here has eaten fresh guava.
