The Perks of Being a Wallflower | Yuletide and recs

Dec 30, 2012 21:21

Watching Perks of Being a Wallflower, it took me about an hour to click that it wasn't set current era. I suddenly miss the 90's. And being young.

I was sure I'd seen Perks of... mentioned on a yuletide list, on a pinch hit or something, so I went looking to see if I could write a NYR story, but I can't find a single request for it, and so obviously no stories either. I guess I shall just have to write one for me! I want Charlie/Patrick and Charlie/Sam - basically I want all three of them to make each other happy.

I can't play the yuletide guessing game this year and offer fic, because of the glitch on AO3. It's really easy to work out my stories anyway, if you stumble across the tiny fandoms I wrote in - at least I think it is. I think they're pretty typical of me. Though weirdly, I wrote het, femslash and gen/het (not a meta fic, just one of those borderline is it het, is it gen? stories, and not an iota of slash. Made a nice change, actually.

I haven't got around to making a yuletide recs post this year, but you can find my favourites on pinboard, and a few more I enjoyed in my AO3 bookmarks.

Oh, what the heck, I have time to mention three: one book, one tv series and one movie fandom. I haven't seen these on any rec lists, which is a shame, because they deserve to be read.

Slightly surreal, as it should be!

Fandom: The Hour
Rating: General Audiences

Characters: Marnie Madden, Ensemble
Summary: "Mister Lyon is in full swing when Marnie makes the realisation." Marnie Madden uncovers a story.
Fantastic Marnie voice - it's great to see her given her voice, and to see the other characters through her eyes. I think I'm just a bit too dense to work out the details of the story she uncovers, but I loved it anyway.
