Duchess of Malfi fic: hunt the badger by owl-light

Apr 11, 2012 13:39

So, I went to see The Duchess of Malfi at the Old Vic at the weekend (superb performance by Eve Best in the title role), and, like one does, I came out fancing a bit of brother and sister pre-canon dirty times. And I couldn't find a scrap! Woe. So I wrote some. Here it is, just in case there's one other person on the planet besides me who wants ( Read more... )

Thank you! I'm absurdly happy that you've read it - I thought this was a real fandom of one!

Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff. You might just kick-start a fandom here!

It makes me so happy, sharing our love of theatre! And I'm so, so grateful for your beta.

I would love it if there were a bigger theatre fandom. Do you know of any LJ comms that specialise in fics based on plays? I searched AO3 and the old yuletide site for Duchess of Malfi fic (no joy), and looked to see if anyone requested it for last yuletide (no), so I'm still hunting.

I wish I knew of any play-centered comms. I don't even know if the small-fandom comms that I know allow archiving of fics like this (without a pimp post for the fandom). I'll keep an eye out, though!

I wasn't really thinking so much of archiving this, as finding more! Anyway, if I find anywhere, I'll share it with you!

I really hope I find somewhere, because otherwise I'm worried I might go and start a new comm!

Oh, Ferdinand... A lovely fic and I'm happy you decided to write it. :)

I saved the fic to read until after watching the play and I'm glad I did. I don't think I found Ferdinand very sympathetic when reading the play but I definitely felt for Harry Lloyd's Ferdinand.

Thank you!

Glad you got to see the play - did you enjoy it? I had very mixed feelings about it (especially after having seen a superb performance years ago), but overall I did enjoy it. And obviously I came out craving some porn!

Yeah, I did like it overall. I've been wanting to see the play for a while and it was great that I got the chance to. There were bits that I wasn't particularly keen on but Eve Best was great. Now I'm jealous about this performance you saw years ago! :)

I've finally found a cast list for the production I saw before: Harriet Walter was the Duchess, and Russel Dixon played the Cardinal. I was only in my teens, but I still remember it well. I was on the front row at the Pit, right in the action. It was enthralling.
