Jim's fucking Bones, hard and fast the way it always is. And then-
"Jim," Bones shouts.
It's not like Bones never shouts out his name when they're fucking. They're both noisy: Jim counts it a failure if no one bangs on their wall at least once. But this is different, somehow. Jim can't say how exactly, and he's too occupied right now thank you very much to try to work it out. But it means something more than just keep going, or harder, or whatever else it is they normally mean when they shout each other's name. Which is interesting.
Even more interesting is Jim's automatic reaction. He slows down and stops - and that gets him a pissy glare which he ignores - puts his hand over Bones mouth when he starts to complain, and just looks.
He sees his friend and mentor and pain-in-the-ass room mate and fuck buddy. But none of those descriptions cover what Bones is to him. He stares down at Bones until he can't look any more, until he's closing his eyes and muttering Bones' name over and over and coming without moving.
After, he says it. And because he's an asshole he waits until Bones is asleep. "I fucking love you," Jim says.
"Yeah, I know," Bones mutters, because he's an asshole too and just fucking pretending to be asleep. He even waits until he thinks Jim's asleep before he says it back. "Love you too."
Jim can fake sleep as well as anyone. He smiles into the pillow. Yeah, he thinks. I know.
