The set-up was great - I could see something like this happening on the show - and I loved the banter between Arthur and Merlin (and Merlin and Alysse, for that matter): "no, your new haircut doesn't make your ears look smaller", lol, so true! And "Any minute Arthur will pop up and an audience will shout he's behind you" made me literally guffaw at my desk!

Ah ha ha!! This was the cutest, most charming thing ever! I love your hilariously prattish Arthur and adorably insolent Merlin more than words can say. :D I was giggling out loud through most of this, but at this especially: "When you've quite finished gazing at your reflection in my water jug, Narcissus - and in case you were wondering, no, your new haircut doesn't make your ears look smaller..." You do such a great job of capturing canon Arthur's arrogance and presenting it with an extra dose of humor. ♥
Also, Alysse is a totally awesome OC. She should be a regular on the show!
I love Arthur being prattish and Merlin being cheeky - writing the two of them together is sheer bliss!
I'm so glad you liked Alysse, because as soon as I had the idea for her I loved the character. I just so wish I'd had time to write more, because I imagined her all over the castle, hearing secrets and being an inadvertant little matchmaker/troublemaker! And I thought Merlin might grow rather fond of her, once he explained to her that she couldn't come into his bedroom any hour of the day! He could moan to her about how awful Arthur is to work for. *g*
