I agree; I think she DID care about Sam. And I did some pondering and thought... she didn't need to SLEEP with Sam, did she? I mean, I don't see how that would have gotten him to do what she wanted any more than simply dangling the carrot of killing Lilith. I mean, maybe I'm totally wrong, but I get the impression she slept with Sam because she wanted to, not because it was part of the plan. That she did care about Sam and -- as you said -- want him in her new unholy world.
In any event, I still want to write more Sam/Ruby fic someday.
And I am going to miss her, too! As much as I loved the way they killed her -- all together now! -- I loved that character, and even though I think I'm in the minority, I loved Genevieve.
I guess I just feel that some of the things she did, she couldn't fake. Certain expressions of happiness when Sam wasn't looking, the way she liked spending time with him; sure she was manipulating him but at the same time I think her enjoyment of being with him was genuine.
Or maybe I just didn't want her to be all evil. :( /fanwank
