Supernatural - Back to the Pilot

I have Supernatural DVDs!!!!

I have Supernatural DVDs!!!!

What I don't have is self-control. I blew my "I'm not making icons when I could be writing" resolve spectacularly yesterday, and today my "I'm not making a Supernatural screencap gallery" determination flew out of the window faster than Dean running from a woman in white.

So here's a zip file (69 MB) of 478 rather large (that would be a classic example of a British understatement - they're 1440 x 810) screencaps from the pilot episode, and there's a gallery up here.

It was fascinating watching the pilot again now I've come to love the characters so much. The first time around I was fairly meh about it (it seemed formulaic, the characters didn't interest me that much, and it's not my favourite genre), so I shrugged my shoulders and was thankful I wasn't adding another fandom to my too-long list. Yet this time round it gripped me. Identical episode (or almost identical - I saw the early screener version of the pilot: was it any different?) but a completely different reaction. The character growth hit me most. Their experiences have changed them, being together on the road has changed them, and their goals, their priorities, they've changed most of all. It was most obvious in the contrast between Dean's reaction to Sam saying there were more important things in life than chasing the demon that killed their mother, shoving Sam up against the side of the bridge, and Sam's mirror response in Salvation, shoving Dean against the wall when Dean insists it's not worth dying over. But looking back over the season, although I didn't pay as much attention to the early episodes as I am second time around, there's an often subtle but definitely present character arc for both boys. And I'm so looking forward to watching it!

Someday soon I will do something other than picspam. Today is not that day.

I'd totally forgotten this! His face!!!

I admit, I chose this cap for that moue - he does it so well!

I'm sure to be making myself a few screencaps as I work my way through the first half of the season, but if there's much call for them, I don't mind making full sets of at least some episodes. So, if you'd like them, fill out da poll, please. (And no, the porny question has nothing to do with screencaps!)

Poll

ETA: I meant to ask which episodes were most wanted, and completely forgot! So, if you have an episode preference from the first half of the season, let me know.

screencaps: supernatural, poll, screencaps, fandom: supernatural
