A Lex/Lana snippet.
The Notebook
There's a leather-bound notebook in Lex's bedside cabinet. In it are names and phone numbers; just first names, because that's all Lex has ever needed to know. The book used to have one hundred and twenty pages in it, but there are far less now. Lex rips out each page when it's finished with, and throws it in the waste paper basket. It seems fitting.
He hasn't used it in months though.
He looks at Lana, lying sprawled face down on crumpled sheets. Her hair is mussed, and any make-up she wore earlier is long gone. He brushes back the hair that's fallen over her face, and drops a gentle kiss on her cheek. She tilts her head and opens her eyes, smiling at him.
He opens the cabinet drawer and pulls out the book. He doesn't need it any more.
It makes a soft sound as it lands in the wastebasket.
