Stargate Atlantis 2.16 The Long Goodbye
My main fannish New Year's Resolution was basically to write more (something, however little, daily), and I've kept to it so far. Now I just need to settle down to one story/fandom - in the last twenty-four hours I've written bits in five different fandoms, which I'm thinking is kinda excessive!
Random observations:
Lorne seemed perfectly comfortable taking orders from Teyla - no hesitation. Rather surprising, but it's good to see that her position within Atlantis seems to be far more settled and secure than it was in season one.
I loved the long sweeping shots outside the city, weaving through the towers. And the external view as we saw the city light up - it really is a beautiful city.
The plot... Ah, when even I can see what's coming all the time (and I'm really clueless when it comes to guessing) you just know the plotline is unbelievably obvious! Good thing I don't watch the show for the plot!!
I loved that Beckett and Caldwell averted their eyes during the Sheppard/Weir kiss, but Rodney watched all agog! And the little McKay/Caldwell power struggle worked well, especially the suggestion that Rodney still doesn't trust Cauldwell: just a little continuity, and I'm happy.
