Every now and then I get the urge to do everything fannish all at once. It tends to result in me running around in circles and accomplishing nothing. This week it means I've started a dozen things (mostly stories), and only finished a couple. So here's one finished mini-project, a set of 30 Photoshop patterns/tiles.
I'm actually rather pleased with these, as they've turned out a lot better than my first attempt a few months ago, and they should make great tiles for backgrounds to journals or webpages (which is why I've made them in muted colours), or be useful in collages etc. It's very easy to change the colour on them if you have suitable software (PS, PSP, Gimp etc), or, if anyone would like one tile in a custom colour to fit a webpage/journal background, I'd be happy to colour it for you - just give me either the
hex code, or a url to the webpage so I can identify the colour myself.

Download jpg set To use the pattern file, just unzip it and put it in your Photoshop pattern folder (which will be somewhere similar to C:/Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop CS/Presets/Patterns).
Most of these tile at 50 x 50 px but some tile at 100 x 100 and some at 25 x 25. I've made all the jpg's 100 x 100 for simplicity's sake, but if you're making your own tile from the patterns, you'll probably want to go by the tile size, which you'll see when you hover your mouse over each pattern in the drop down box in Photoshop.
Here are a few examples to show you what some of the patterns look like on a background:
