Writers' Workout Challenge stories/Icon ettiquette/Icons
Most of the stories for the Writers' Workout Challenge are now linked here. There are a couple missing, from people in Louisianna, so hopefully they're safe and well. (Has anyone heard from fandomstuff or khohen1 in the last couple of days? ETA: I love the LJ grapevine! They're both OK.)
We have six new writers, who wrote original fiction and in the Veronica Mars, Harry Potter, Queer as Folk (US), Smallville and Phantom of the Opera fandoms. I'm thrilled that so many decided to have a go, either at their first story, or their first one in a long time.
Those who took the advanced challenge and tried out a new POV wrote Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, Lost, Roswell, Smallville and original fiction.

Just a wee word about icon etiquette before I get to the icon post itself. I've noticed a few individuals using icons that I've made specifically for friends. They've presumably taken these from my friends' user pictures page, and I'm sure they feel that, as they've credited, this is fine. But what needs to be taken into account is that a lot of people have gift icons, ones that are exclusive to them, and many icon makers make icons specifically for themselves. Of the icons I make, about half are gifts for friends, and unless they say otherwise, they're for their use only.
If you ever see an icon you like in someone's user pictures, please do check with that person and/or the icon maker to see if it's available for sharing rather than just taking it.
When it comes to my own user pictures, I do keep a few for my personal use. You're welcome to ask if you can use any that I've not publically posted - I'll probably say yes, I may say no, or I might even make you something similar. But please don't just take them without asking.
OK, onto the icons. Lots of Stargate Atlantis from 'The Defiant One', 'Sanctuary' and 'Instinct'. Also some Battlestar Galactica from 'Home part 2' and Smallville from 'Perry'.
