A community has been "set up so that those who are in the path of Hurricane Katrina can let us all know that they're okay, as well as a place for concerned friends to try to find information about those that they care about" - katrinarollcall. There's also cat5_katrina.

ETA: I've just heard from fandomstuff - she's expecting to be without power for some days at least, but she's ok, for now.
