I've gone cold again. I want to write it, I want to write it really badly, but I just... I don't know what to do with it; I don't have a hook or a purpose. My only inspiration is a desperation to write, and I want it to be Neville/Theodore, but I almost feel like since 1000th Man-verse there's nothing left. I burned myself out. *is distressed*
Neville doesn't understand what Theodore Nott sees in him. It's not a matter of thinking Theodore's better than him, or that he's not worthy, but they're just so different. Theodore's a Slytherin and Neville's a Gryffindor and Neville's entire school existence has been puncutated by the horribleness of Slytherin house. On one end is Malfoy and on the other is Snape, and just the thought of Snape makes Neville's blood run cold. He's at a loss to explain his own stomach-curdling fear of Snape, but the man has always been so cruel and vindictive, so heartless and callous, and the way he continually berated Neville for all those years -- Neville doesn't understand what he ever did to earn such treatment. His grandmother says you reap what you sow, but Neville never sowed anything near Snape. He's only kept to himself and his flowers and he longs for the day when he won't even have to see Snape at meals, because Snape's piercing eyes and sallow skin are enough to put Neville off his food for hours. Theodore says -- Theodore says a lot of things. He doesn't try to justify Snape's behaviour, he just tells Neville that not everyone in Slytherin should be tarred with the same stain.
You've got the words, cearly, because that's beautiful, so you just need the theme. Why not use the story in the video? Does Theodore treasure something that Snape could destroy, maybe as being unbecoming a Slytherin? Neville could be a distant onlooker and rescue it. Then some celebration, and we see the wide view, and then people move apart and we see Theodore and Neville together. And there's a furore, Snape dragging Theodore off Neville, and the trio comforting Neville as though Theodore's kisses are something to rescue him from.
