Restaurant recommendations

Hello,

So, my Finals are next week, and then I'll only have a couple more weeks in Oxford before I leave forever. Before I go, I think it might be nice to try out some restaurants I've never been to. Can anybody recommend some good places to eat? Cost isn't a huge issue, though under £15 a head (excluding wine) would be ideal. I'm an adventurous ( Read more... )

If cost really isn't an issue, I very strongly recommend the Randolph. You'll need to book some time in advance, though, about two weeks in my experience.

I payed £114.30 for myself and Jo. That was with main course, dessert, champagne appitiser, wine and dessert wine. I can't remember how much just the food was...

My feeling is that the Randolph is probably somewhere I ought to go at least once, just for the experience. My exact wording was "cost isn't a huge issue", and I'd feel too guilty paying £55 for dinner when I don't have a summer job lined up yet (don't get me started on a certain consulting firm's inability to get back to me by the time they said they would). But it might be nice to go there for mine and Aaron's 1-year anniversary. So thanks for the tip :)

What will Jo be doing when she graduates, which I assume is this summer?

Well, yes. But we have student loans for frittering away like that ;)

Jo, hopefully, will be getting a job in London and coming to live with me in Oxford when she graduates :D

Also, coffee. It must happen. I declare it so.

Coffee must indeed occur. When are your exams? Mine finish on Saturday 24th (and by this time next week, I'll have done 2 out of my 3 papers, aiyah). I'm going home for a couple of days then, but will be around from the middle of 6th week, although thanks to the pointlessness of Clinical Anatomy I can only do evenings and weekends from 7th to 9th week.

So are you going to arrange to live out next year then, or are you trying for Worcester couples' accommodation?

*twitch* E-word. We don't use the E-word. Nor the F-word, nor the R-word.

I'll be in exams Friday 7th to Thursday 8th; I suspect I'll be in Oxford throughout 9th, however, owing to the Worcester Ball being on Friday 9th.

Next year, I'll be renting a room in Marston in a professional let. Student lets are made of fail for that kind of thing, and couples' accommodation is only for graduates at Worcester, and is horrifically oversubscribed anyway. Still, it's quite a nice house, nice area, and not much more than I'm paying now, so I shan't complain too much.
