vacations between terms
For a piece of fiction I'm currently writing that is set at Oxford between October 1999 and June 2002, a couple of questions, please:
It's my understanding that between terms, students must pack up and move out of their rooms in the residence halls.
Does this apply to international students?
and
If a student wanted to stay in his or her room during a vacation between terms (say, between Hilary and Trinity), would there be any way he or she could arrange that? (I'm thinking of some sort of job working for the university, perhaps, between terms. possibly to do with the people who come to Oxford for conferences?)
If there are any such jobs at those times, how would a student go about securing them?
The characters in my story are at Hertford College, so if anyone out there from Hertford can help me with this, I'd be very grateful.
