So. The big news of today is that I FINALLY FREAKING GOT MY IPOD BACK. But not without a struggle, I assure you. This morning I called the customs people, who were very nice, and told me to call this company called ParcelForce, which basically handles any parcels that come into the U.K. So I call them, and go through this like twenty minute ordeal with their automated phone thing, and then I finally get to talk to an actual person, and they tell me, based on the tracking number I give them, that the package never reached the U.K. So I hang up and am upset and am all, "what the hell?". Then I remember this other tracking number that my mom gave me before that came off the receipt she got when she first mailed it. So I call the ParcelForce people back and go through the twenty minute ordeal again and talk to another human being and give her this number, and she tells me that the package was delivered to the Oxford depot last Monday and it's being held there until someone pays 53 pounds in customs charges. Were they ever going to notify me of this fact? Um, no. I guess it was just going to rot there until I became omniscient and went and picked it up. And what the hell with the 53 pounds? They are basically charging me the VAT tax like I'm importing the thing to sell it or something. Oy. I paid up, but I have a number to call tomorrow to see if I can get it back. But really, none of this matters because I have the damn thing back and it works! I christened it Lucy, and I love it. *Hugs it*.
In other news, Steven and I traipsed around three more colleges today: Hertford, Lincoln, and Keble. More picture action for everyone to be found here:
After Hertford, we went to the Bodleian gift shop so I could buy a poster of the oath one has to take when they first use the library (you know, not to kindle fires and all that). I think it will be neat framed. Then to the land of Lincoln we went.
Now on to Keble, the land of the red bricks.
After all that, it was back here for iPod charging and closet/desk/etc. cleaning. Now I'm going swimming with Katherine and then eating cheese toast that Moops has promised to make for me. Yay!
