Ok, here we go again!
After the punt tour, we made our way back to King's Parade, ate some insanely good fudge from some famous fudge place, and peered into various colleges - St. Catharine's, Corpus Christi, etc. When we came to Pembroke, there were no signs saying we couldn't go in, so we busted up in there and wandered around a bit. Yay Pembroke!
Peterhouse, the oldest college in Cambridge, was likewise open, so we poked our touristy noses in there as well.
From there we tried to go to The Fitzwilliam Museum, but it, like so many others, is closed on Monday. Feh. But here's the outside, at least.
At this point our energy was running down a bit, so we decided to head back towards town with an eye to food and sitting down. On the way, there were of course things to document pictorally.
And now for our surreptitious entry into Christ's College! Ok, when we were there in the morning, there was a big 'College Closed' sign up, but this woman was attaching a small sign to it that said 'Entry Permitted Only for Art Exhibition.' After our failed attempt to reason with the first porter, I didn't think it would work to then say we were going to said art exhibition, but when we came back that afternoon there was a different porter, so we said we wanted to see some art and were pointed in the right direction. And poof! We were in! Thanks, artist lady, for providing such a big loophole!
After looking at the art, we tried to reason with another porter who was standing guard over the garden thing (there's a Milton Mulberry tree somewhere in there), but he wouldn't let us in. After a bit of trepidation on my part, we went back to this dorm and tried to peer over the wall into the garden, and we saw a lot of trees, but which one might be the one dedicated to Milton is still a mystery to me.
After all that excitement we definitely needed some refreshment, so we ate at the Slug and Lettuce and lounged around for a bit, then went to this park area called Christ's Piece (I'm serious; that's what it's called) and watched yet more scallies come together under the pretty trees. It was a nice spot, though, and we stayed there until it was time to get on the bus.
After that, it was a simple matter of getting on the bus and coming home! I took a travel sickness pill for that journey, so all was ok, and we got back at about 10. Then, we crashed crashed crashed and slept for about a million hours.
So there you go! Our visit to Tab land documented in just two entries!
Today I am lounging and going to the MCR garden party later this afternoon. Then, probably more lounging. wOOt wOOt!
