the issue is really irrelivant to the decision, honestly. the issue at hand is 'should it be the place of the federal government to intervene in the laws of florida?' for right or wrong, that answer should be no.

the federal government is becoming too powerful, this has been demonstrated most recently by the supreme court decision to abolish capitol punishment to minors (overriding the voted laws of 22 states by the word of 5 UNELECTED supreme court justices) now this is going into federal court.

The US Supreme Court is making partisan decisions on issues that should rightfully be left to the states, and 9 unelected officials now have and are abusing the power to completely ignore the opinions of the voters and citizens.

we are seeing this in the gay marraige issue, where in 1 state, the state court system has inplaced a policy that 70% of legal voters are against. we are seeing it in the capitol punishment issue, where federal judges have ignored the voters of 22 states, and now we are seeing it here, where the federal government is making a move to userp the power of the state of florida to govern itsself and hiding behind this issue as a cause.

My grandfather died in front of my family, a process that took over 13 years. he had papers stating that he didnt want recessitation, life support, feeding tubes, etc. without the papers though, we still knew that was his will, and his wife, my grandmother, is the person with the authority to state his will. this case is almost identical. it sucks, but the state law of florida states that the husband speaks for his wife, and he states that her will is to not live as a vegetable. it becomes the business of Florida to either change their laws or back them up. The Federal Government should not become the harbingers of Micromanagement.

I agree with all that you say...except when it comes to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness".

We're guaranteed that by the Constitution.

Thanks for the comment, though.

yes, i understand that, but here is a question...

If you or someone you love is in an accident, disease, etc where you are in pain, a vegetable, or living in a state where you dont want to live, or are watching your spouse live in a state that they dont want to live, where you are LEGALLY their spouse and speak with their voice in all matters where they cant, who makes the decision to keep you alive and in pain against your will? your spouse, who by the laws of your state speaks for you, or the Government?
