Happy New Year

Well, we survived 2008. I don't usually look at things that way, but it was that kind of year in too many ways.

Last night was a good way to ring in the new year. My husband and Fenix and I went to dinner at Longhorn and consumed large quantities of food and were back home by 7:00. Then the guys went to pick up another friend, who came bearing drinks and "The Dark Knight", which I hadn't seen. While they were hanging out, I went downstairs and did my end-of-the-month Hekate meditation and then my annual "what will this year bring?" tarot reading, which was totally goofy because I used a new deck and really hadn't shuffled enough, so *shrug*. Then we watched the movie, which was amazing. We had to pause at one point to watch the ball drop and that little split of champagne (which was in my Christmas package from my friend in North Carolina) was just right for the four of us to split for a toast. It was the nicest New Year's Eve I've spent in a while. I hope that's a good sign for the new year.

No resolutions, which normally don't last till my birthday. Instead, I set up a new set of goals for the year -- a "personal curriculum". I did this to various degrees the last couple of years and it works well for motivating me.

curriculum, new year
