On a random bridge hand last night, I picked up my cards to sort and it slowly dawned on me that, wow, that's a LOT of letters. I had AKQJxx of spades, AKxx of diamonds, AK of clubs, and Q of hearts. I opened two spades, Matt passed, Candle jumpshifted to three heart, and Chas passed. Ah-hah! I initiated blackwood (after some rather insistent prodding) and ace and king calls revealed Candle's hearts suit topped by the AK. So I had EVERYTHING, and could sluff my looser diamonds to his hearts after I cashed my singleton queen. Closed at seven spades. Matt lead a diamond, Candle laid down his hand, and I counted tricks and claimed.
Grand Slam, bid and made.
