So in my last post, I wondered why there are so many librarians in fandom, and suggested that I had some theories on why. Folks asked me to elaborate, so here are some random thoughts, in no particular order

I could see that there's a distinct argument for it. I'm not a librarian, but I'm an undergrad double majoring in English and History (and one of these days I'll finish my damn BA) and my attraction to fandom is the same type of attraction I have to my preferred subjects: research, writing, reading, characters, plot, drama. So I'm betting it's the same for a lot of others.
Yeah, I agree with that. It seems to me that there are just a lot of academics in fandom, period, especially in the fandoms that gather around the journaling sites, which is where I've been by far the most active. I would certainly class most librarians as academics, or at the very least educators, even librarians who don't work in a school setting.
A census would be awesome, although I don't know how we would go about organizing one.
