30 Days: "Oh Hi, I'm here from the Internet"
renay asked for my favorite Internet memes. Be warned, this post is very image heavy.
I freely admit it: I love Internet memes. I love watching them spread, and mutate, and tracing them back to the source, and trying to figure out what's going to catch on, what will burn out within days and what will stick around for awhile. To create a comprehensive list of all my favorites would take far too long, so I'll just focus on four recent and abiding favorites.
1. Lolcats
I enjoy playing with language, I enjoy silliness, and I enjoy pictures of cats, so it was only natural for me to become enamored of lolcats. I find them endlessly inventive, and it tickles me that in only a few short years they developed their own grammar. I can spend hours browsing I Can Has Cheezburger. Not just for cats, of course; I enjoy lolcats of all forms, although cats always help.
There's no way I can limit these to a single favorite, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be the Lolrus and his bucket:

Another favorite is Do Not Want. I went through a phase where I was making lolmacros, mostly for capslock_ff, and I made a whole series of Do Not Want and I Can Has? macros for FFX. But nothing I could make will ever top the retelling of "The Trouble with Tribbles" in lolcat.
2. Old Spice Man
I don't care that this is a commercial designed to become an Internet meme and is therefore in no way organic. I adore the original ad, I love all the parodies of the ad, and I love how Old Spice Man has embraced his role as Internet sensation.

And of course there's Old Spice Man himself, answering questions and taking requests, like this one to create an answering machine message:
It doesn't hurt that the dude is hot. And has a truly awe-inspiring voice.
3. Interrupting Kanye
The original incident is not actually something I found all that funny -- the way it was handled by the media and the participants and many of the people who commented on it was rather troubling. But some of the macros that came out of it were pure gold. This one was really big among my co-workers: we shared around our favorites, and my officemate actually made several of her own. It continues to be a running joke.

4. Techno Remixes of People Talking
Take a video. Slice and dice it to give it rhythm and melody. Maybe throw in some auto-tune, but maybe don't. Instant club hit, and instant KJ favorite. I've linked most of my favorites in this space before, and most of the others are popular enough that you've likely seen them, but here's a sampling -- the Bill O'Reilly Freakout, Shatner on the Mount, Why is the Rum Gone? (with bonus 24 cameo!), Slap Chop, Carl Sagan's "A Glorious Dawn".
