I have returned safe and sound from LA. We had an excellent time, which I will describe in more detail once T has uploaded his photos. A few tidbits in the meantime:
- In a bizzare bit of cross-marketing, the shampoo that the hotel provided smelled exactly like the cinnamon rolls served at the free continental breakfast. (Note to A and SB: no apparent change in T.)
- We had some time to spare in the room this morning and we spent much of it watching coverage of Hurricane Katrina. I hope that anyone in its path, or who has friends and family that are, is safe and sound today. Thoughts for my brother in Nashville are appreciated.
- I finished Something Rotten while on my trip. I enjoyed it immensely (including the political satire; if only GWB were a fictional character and we could read him back into whatever cowboy novel he came from). I thought it better than the previous book in the series and think it wrapped everything up nicely. I'm glad it was the last one, though. The previous book was enjoyable, but I felt that he was dragging things out a little. I was so happy to see Landen back (and so heartbroken when it looked like it would be only temporary). The sequel to Sailing to Sarantium is next. I'm a little less than halfway through and enjoying it completely.
- Being largely without access to email (I got to check it once in luvmoose's hotel room) and completely without access to LJ was weird. It's been a long time since I was that unwired. Refreshing and unsettling at the same time.
Off to see what y'all have been up to...
