Baby stuff!

Weeee! Look what I made! I started another one last night, on the same pattern, but it will be a little bigger, and baby blue.
I have to get my teeth cleaned tonight. That ought to be fun with an overactive gag reflex! :) It's also Brad and my 2 year wedding anniversary today! We haven't even tried to kill each other yet! :) I get to go out for ( Read more... )

Thanks! I'm quite proud of it, and can't wait to show it off at knitting group tomorrow! :)

I put my hand in the one picture so you could tell how big it is. How old will my baby have to be to fit in there? The one I just started will be bigger, but I think I'll make a smaller one too. :)

AND - those buttons are Ruth's. :) I thought that was fun. I have alot of her sewing stuff, and there are lots of buttons. Those 2 came out of a big jar of buttons she had apparently collected off of things. There is a little string of buttons tied together - they are tiny little bowling pins! Too cute! I'm going to put 2 more button holes on the next one. I'm not sure why there are just 2. Sandy said after I dressed the baby a few times, I'd understand. Are they too fat to button their sweaters??!?
Isn't Jen's strip stage the coolest? She actually called me to tell me about it, but seeing the pics this morning was better. I couldn't imagine it. You know they're gonna get that pole out of there pretty soon and take some lewd pictures ;) (here's hoping she sees this!)

I finally told everyone at work that I'm pg. It was cause of the sweater. Sheri knits, and I couldn't wait to show it to her :)
They are happy.

HA!! No, babies are not too fat to button their sweaters, but after you've wrestled the kid into it (kicking and screaming), and the baby is trying to claw it's way back out, and you're struggling to fasten the buttons before he or she gets away....you'll be really glad there are only two to deal with.

I want to see Ruth's buttons!! Can I have some? I want to put Ruth-buttons on something!

That stage is too good to be true - who gets to discover such cool things?!?! We need to ask her if there are also several "plant" hooks in the ceiling of the bedroom.

What did people say about your knocked up condition?

(Go see veggies in my LJ!!)

Sure, you can have all the buttons you want. They are mostly normal ones, but a few oddballs. I was going to wait until we knew if the baby is a boy or girl, and then buy some sex appropriate buttons - really cute ones - for the sweater. But I was dying to have it done, and then I remembered Ruth's buttons, so I thought I'd check and see if there were any I could use. Those 2 are just some old brass ones, but they were the only ones that looked good on the yellow and were about the right size.

On the blue sweater, I think I will crochet on some fancy pockets in white, and maybe do some white trim. Mom said "blue..Hmmmmm" but when I picked out the blue yarn, I was actually picturing a pretty girlie sweater. :) That's MY fav color, so I don't automatically think boy when I use it. Of course, if I put frilly crochet edges on, then we will have a boy :) Murphy and his dumb laws :)

Any chance you could sneak out of work for a while next Fri? Brad and I are going to be cabining over the weekend, but are going to try to go see Dad in the courtroom for part of the day - probably fri, but possibly thurs. Might be fun if you came too. Can we heckle him? ;)

Sheri was excited for us when I told her we were pg. She said it's a good time of year - to be big fall and winter, and small in summer. I told the front desk guy - he just said congrats. He's pretty quiet most of the time. I haven't told MY boss yet. He's not here until thursday. I meant to tell at the next office meeting, so I could tell them all at once, but we just had one, and I don't know when the next one will be. Doesn't much matter anyway. But Sheri was just happy for us, didn't mention maternity leave or anything. I guess we'll get to that later :)

I'll go check out your veggies. My garden would shrivel up and die of embarrassment if I took its picture right now. LOTS of weeds, and half the stuff is dead. I will get some peppers, tomatoes, onions and potatoes, which are my major crops anyway. The peas and beans are more trouble than they're worth. I don't know why I keep planting them. I noticed while they were harvesting the field across the road that it was GREEN beans...not SOY beans like my husband said. I wish I'd known. I would have been over there in the night pilfering enough beans for a few dinners. :) We do that with sweet corn too, and we ate a few peas, the year they grew those. It's fascinating. The guy grows all human consumption crops around us. This is the first we've seen of green beans though. I'll have to pay more attention. Corn in the back yard is 8 feet tall! I'm getting ready to start eating :)
You didn't tell me how old the baby will need to be to fit in that sweater. I need to know these things. I probably just made it a sweater that will only fit him through the hottest months of the year.

I don't know if I'll be able to sneak out of work, talk to me at the end of the week, I'll see what I can do...I'd LOVE to join you.

The baby needs to be six weeks and twelve days old to fit into that sweater.

(I don't know dear - they are very different sizes most of the time.) I'm guessing maybe 3-6 months. *grin*

Yeah - I'm planting about HALF as much beans next year, maybe even less. The onions still don't seem all that satisfying to me because you just stick little onions in the ground and pull them out later. I think I should have thinned my squash and zucchini - that yellow one was the ONLY one of any size to speak of at all, and there just don't seem to be very many coming along. But maybe he was just really ambitious.
