Crooked

I only kept my emotions
On my sleeve for
Insurance reasons.
It was no crime.

I only told my dignity that I was
Going out for a cigarette break,
And I never looked back.
It was no crime.

I only averted a gaze
So damned strong
It’d melt your soul.
It was no crime.

I only glanced through the scuffed marbles
That you call gorgeous eyes
To catch a glimpse of your contagious passion.
It was no crime.

I only froze
Your words
To save your breath.
It was no crime.

And yet, we all know the
Omnipotent, Omnipresent
Criminal
Walks freely in the daylight.
