I have no idea where this originally comes from, but having wandered around journals for no reason I can comprehend, I found it in trixie_wabbit's journal. Thanks to her entry and links from xulong left in the comments to that entry, I believe I have all the sections of 'The Inane Question Quiz' from 1 through 12. That's 236 questions.

As I'm editing out trixie_wabbit's ( Read more... )

(artificially imposed reply arrows, for convenience and so I don't have to figure out html for italics)
>93. Smoke?: not as of January 2004 (ok, so I've given in about 4
times, >rarely a full cigarette)
>
>YAYY!! Proud of you!!

Normally that reaction inspires a spiteful counter from me, since it feels a lot like being congratulated for not pounding my head against the wall. Although, you're one of the very few who I know means it in only the best possible way, so: thank you. :)

>122. What is your favorite place to visit?: before it was sold, a
>particular stagecoach inn in southern California
>
>A particular one?

Yep. It was owned by Barbara McManus, who (through hosting seminars in a sizable building elsewhere on the property, long story) was a good friend of my parents. Most family vacations when I was little were either to that Inn (really just their home at that point), or to Oregon to visit other friends of my parents. Lots of cool places, but the house that was once an Inn was my favorite. BTW, Barbara is the woman mentioned elsewhere in this quiz, who was like a second mom to me, and whose dead son I was named after.

>123. What is the last movie you saw?: Sky Captain and the World of
>Tomorrow (quite good, if you appreciate 30s SF)

>You saw it? And you didn't post about it? Martin is leaving little
>puddles of drool around the house about that thing.

I would've said something, but my night was ruined after the movie by being pulled over by a cop. Which reminds me, I need to hand over the citation and show that my brake lights are working now.

I did make some comments on the imdb message board about it, but that was something I did while researching possible inconsistencies in the plot. (yes, it does happen in 1939, and no calling the Great War WWI is not a continuity error, as the term was actually coined in 1938 or 1939, before WWII)

>139. Do you or have you played with a ouija board?: once, but the
>details are too stupid to repeat
>
>What a great way of putting it! Of course now I'm all curious.

It was a party, the only others at the board were two cute girls (I thought they were both 21, but to my credit it was dark, so I can't be blamed for not knowing they were 17 and 19), and I came up with some stupid dating questions in a lame attempt to flirt, and they came up with some rude answers and tried poorly to cover up that they'd made up those answers. There, now you know the rest of the stupid and embarrassing story.

>196. How do you release anger?: what anger?
>
>Sorry, but you are not constantly and utterly anger free, at least
>not the last time I talked to you.

True, but I do try to keep it under control, and it really is pretty rare for me to get angry when it involves anything but my relatives.

>205. Have you ever been in another country?: no
>
>Never at ALL?

Not once. I could've gone along on a trip through the UK and Norway once, but I didn't want to have to sleep in youth hostels along the way. If I go traveling, I want a nice private room of my own.

>220. Who is most likely to respond to this first?: fritters
>
>Curse you, Red Baron!! *shakes her fist menacingly*

Duh. :)

>230. I miss:
>
>Here's a wild stab. Your home and friends?

Yes, and while I'd like to come back home right away, after some consideration, it looks like I'd be best off gathering up funds first, so I can make a new home, instead of mourning the loss of my last real home to that damned quake.

On the smoking, that's the main reason that Martin keeps going, is that it pisses society off...

What city is the Inn in?

I've truly made myself stand out as an LJ geek, haven't I?

That's not a good excuse for smoking, but it's his decision whether to use it or not, and whether to smoke or not. Honestly, the only thing that got me to quit was being unable to breathe. (I inhaled some fiberglass, and got sick enough that I could either smoke or breathe) After getting the nicotine out of my system, I decided not to start again. My only remaining plausible excuse was the 'stress reliever' one, and while it did work, I'd rather breathe easier and have to deal with stress without smoking.

The inn is in the middle of nowhere, down towards San Diego somewhere. I'm really not sure exactly, except that there's a military base close enough that you could sometimes distantly hear the shelling from their occasional target practice.

LJ geek? Nah, you're just bored. :)

No, it's not a good excuse, but he also likes smoking as well. Granted, it bothers the crap out of me, but you can't effectively quit for someone else.

Did you go to a doctor or anything for the fiberglass? Or at least look it up online to make sure you didn't do anything permanent?

I probably scarred my lungs for life, but according to the people I talked to about it at the time, there isn't much to do for it except get your lungs flushed. Even if my insurance could've paid for that, I was afraid to do it. I think it's too late for that to do any good now, but maybe I should go ask a doctor, since I ought to get checked for diabetes anyway.

With your income you should be able to see a doctor for free...

Yeah, but I'm a chicken.

I wish I could see a dentist for free...

Odd how that was the other way around when I was a kid. I didn't mind most doctors, but hated seeing the dentist. Maybe it's because the tooth problems are more severe than general health issues.

I agree. If I could go to a dentist right now I would as well. Same with Martin. His neglect is into the 4 digit category at this point...
