Hey all. I haven't updated in a while. There's nothing unusual going on in my life right now. I'm just waiting to here back from colleges, and so far I've only heard back from Loyola in New Orleans and U of South Carolina, both of which I was accepted to. Friday I got an envelope from Hamilton, though, which really scared me. @__@ Turns out it was just a "we have received your application and are reviewing it now" letter.
I'm gonna take this time to recommend three AMVs and a new link a friend recently shared with me. The link is to a blog with beautiful half-naked or naked (yum) male models in good photography. It's really helpful for drawing, actually.
The first AMV is "Wonderchild" by Christian Walz with video to the anime/manga Tokyo Babylon. I knew very little about Tokyo Babylon when I watched this, and yet I still LOVED this video. Other than a few repetitions I could have done without and some Photoshop-y lens flare I could have done without at one part, it's still a really great video to a really great song. I like how the editor created a very abstract and illusion-heavy world within the frame of the song.
The second video is "It's All Understood" by Jack Johnson, set to the anime Wolf's Rain. I normally get tired of Jack Johnson's CDs after a while: I can stand hearing one song or two in a row, but after twelve of his songs, they all start to sound the same. Well, while in the car driving to vacation several years ago, I heard a Jack Johnson song that stood out in a mind as a profound piece of music. "It's All Understood" is surprisingly haunting and serious, something I didn't really expect from the artist but I found incredible nonetheless. I searched it on Google and came across this AMV. The AMV does the song great justice. If you're familiar with Wolf's Rain, it will help you to gain more from the AMV, but the AMV by itself with no previous knowledge of Wolf's Rain is bone-chilling and beautiful. A+
Those who know Princess Tutu will probably know this AMV. It's an incredibly popular and very much award-winning AMV that I love and link to a lot. The song is "Hall Om Mig" by Nanne Gronvall. Where do I even begin with this amazing piece of work? It's obvious the editor put in countless hour after hour, day after day, week after week to make this incredibly complex video to an incredibly fast-paced song. I often spend time watching it over and over again, it's so good. When I recommend to others to watch Princess Tutu, this is often the video I link them to in order to prove just how amazing and intense of an anime it is. A must-watch for me. A++
Last but not least, I have
Just Beautiful Men, a blog featuring amazing photos of gorgeous/hot/beautiful male models. My laptop is covered in drool just from looking at these, lol. * u * Also really helpful for drawing idealistic male figures.
In other news, I plan on finishing my Fakir/Ahiru OTP table since I wasn't able to sign up for Round 2. (There were, like, 30 sign-ups within a couple of hours. o___o ) I don't have time right now, though. 's birthday gift fic, but I'm not finding very much inspiration for them right now.
I need to finish reading From Faraway and re-watch Wolf's Rain.
