So, I owe daily blibbets from last November and last December. Let's see.

November 17
"Italia cookies, Friday papers, floor people, and hotel nobodies--that's what life's about, you think," said the man on the corner, waiting for the light to change.
"What?" I said.
"Whoever thought up cornflakes, anyway?" he mumbled to himself.
I looked him over, as if craziness were something you wore. A suit, grey like ash, a tie the soft yellow color of butter, neat black shoes, hair trimmed so close it almost qualified as stubble. Nothing overtly insane.
"Got a light?" he asked, jerking his thumb toward the unchanged light of the crosswalk.
December 11
We drank cold German beer in the cold December winds and looked across the Atlantic, hoping we could see over the blue horizon to that mythical, multi-tongued place across the ocean. It was a place we could disappear into in ignorance of the language, paying always in fifty euro bills from each maximum banking withdrawal. Hazel claims she once bought ice cream for everyone in a gelateria one time, as the store had no change for a fifty, but I'm skeptical and wonder if she's ever even been across the sea.
