I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us-- don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know
How dreary to be somebody
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
--Emily Dickinson
Apparently, I'm missing a lot of time. More than I would have thought possible. And I have a birthday! I guess I'm eighteen-- and last I checked I wasn't quite fifteen yet. I traveled around Europe, before I came here. I like champagne, and... someone named Lady Gaga. I don't know if she's a Duchess or a Baroness or if she's even really royalty. Now that I discovered the computer in the library, I've looked her up, and... she's a singer. And a pretty good one too.
And I discovered... well, a lot of things. Like, I've been living in Neil's house since last December, which explains why the room that's rented in my name at the hotel doesn't look like anyone's been staying in it. And... I guess we were close, Neil and I, even though he doesn't remember it either. I guess that makes it a little less awkward... but reading my old entries in the journal is like reading a story written by someone else entirely. I wish I knew how it ended.
The best part about being out of the Graveyard is the library. Definitely. I camped out there last night with a flashlight, after everyone else left, and read until I fell asleep. The worst part? ...probably the noise, and the commotion... there was a bus stop outside the graveyard for all of my life, but somehow, walking up to one, and getting ON one... they're so much louder than I remember, and bigger. I don't think I like it, much.
The tea shop was nice, too. Apparently, I have a job here-- my employer doesn't remember either, but at least I have money. And I've been working on trying all the different kinds of food that they make at the cafe, and all the kinds of tea. I didn't know they made so many different kinds! ...so far, Earl Grey is my favorite.
I am glad that no one's really trying to kill me, but I wish I knew how I left things when I came here, and if everything is all right at home.
