You're Thinking Of Some Other Show

Sometimes I think people get confused about what television program they're watching.

Like, when your cousin puts episode after episode of SpongeBob and Barney on the television over the holidays and you keep wishing you could take them out with a photon torpedo. Wrong show. Or maybe Law And Order is on and you're expecting that respecting a suspect's legal rights will turn out to be the right thing to do. Sorry, wrong show.

Now, people especially get confused about Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Some people even claimed once that Buffy and her friends burst into song to explain the plot as a dance number. Probably they accidentally switched to Glee during a commercial.

This week I've heard complaining about a certain comic book where a character named Angel wanted to destroy the world where a child named Connor lived. But there never was such a character as Connor on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Surely if Angel had made a deal with the devil (literally) in order to abandon his son Connor just before an episode called Chosen, he wouldn't have been cheerfully flirty and childish. He'd have been broody and morose. But he wasn't.

Because the Connor thing happened to a different character on a different show. It might just have well have happened to Seely Booth.

I will grant there are some coincidences. David Boreanaz left his job on BtVS and took a job at Angel just the next year and the characters did have similar names. But you have to respect that actors need to work to survive and there is a finite number of good character names. Actors who met on BtVS may have worked together on other projects. Numfar played a car rental agent on the same show where Cordelia was a sexy stepmom. But that doesn't make Veronica Mars a Buffy character. And the character that James Marsters played on the Fifth Season of Angel didn't very much resemble the Spike we got to know on Buffy.

In fact, we don't know anything about what Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Angel has been doing in the seven or eight or nine or five years since he left the show up to Twilight. Surely it doesn't have anything to do with anyone named Connor. And vampires can't even have children.

As for Spike, I'm pretty sure he hasn't be sleeping with spiders and Harmony.
