Cue Your Face So Forsaken, Say Goodbye

First, a big happy birthday to the wonderful
aquila_star. Somehow I managed to remember, even though My LJ says "no upcoming friends birthdays!" What a load of crap. Anyway, Happy Birthday dear, and congratulations again on your beautiful baby girlio.

Secondly, this news alternately makes me sad and pisses me off: Placebo have parted company with drummer of 11 years, Steve Hewitt, due to personal and musical differences. Stupid boys.

Thirdly, I've been reading, real actual books from the library! My thoughts behind the cuts... If you've read them, what did you think?

Stardust by Neil Gaiman.
I liked it overall, but I thought it was too short, and while I could see how they'd get together in the end, I wanted to see it build up a little more for it to be realistic to me. Liked the plot though, and the land behind the Wall.

City of Bones by Cassie Clare.
I wasn't around during any of the wank surrounding her, so I went into the book untainted. I read a lot of negative reviews on amazon, and while I can see parallels to pop culture (jace=fanon!draco, luke=remus, the silent brothers=the gentlemen from the Hush episode of buffy, immense similarity of storyline to that of the Skywalkers (which squicked out a lot of reviewers, like they almost didn't finish the book. I however, saw it coming a mile away, and had no problem. *g*)) I still thought it was pretty darn entertaining and want to read the second one when it comes out. Plus the covers are gorgeous.

Currently reading Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.
I really want to like these books. Right now the first person narrative and the semi-stilted sentences and the rain!hate are bugging me. But I'll keep trying. I'm really trying to ignore the fact that she went to BYU. Yes, I am a judgemental snob.
