The Remus Lupins played a few gigs for our local library system and I convinced the whole family to come along for a dinner picnic and see them yesterday evening. I didn't know they'd have an opening band (The Parselmouths - a couple of girls singing about being mean Slytherins and having a crush on Lupin) so the show lasted beyond bedtime for the wee-ist one, a fact she so kindly pointed out with her past-tired weirdness. The park where they played was pretty, but was rather unfortunately placed directly under the landing path of two airports, and the music was drowned out every 45 seconds or so by the sound of jet engines. Couple that with the fact that their equipment was wonky for a while so the sound was too low, and get an end result of a sort of fun time that could have been funner more fun for sure.
I see that Harry and the Potters will be playing here in a week or so. Sucks for them, I'll be in Hawaii. :D
I just discovered from
we_love_alton that my favorite Food Network Star is
schilling for GE. Alton Brown is doing Good Eats style informo-scientific (and rather long) ads/promos for GE products. I'm watching/listening to the water one right now, and if I pretend he isn't doing this so I'll buy a GE water filtration system, its pretty interesting.
Back out to the loud park this afternoon to see our favorite pirate band. I know, I'm a slow learner.
