The squee at Scotty arriving on screen and me remembering that Simon Pegg was in Star Trek? Srsly, a full minute of hand-wavey, stupid-grinny squee that probably irritated the piss outta the people behind me...unless they, too, were having glee-n-squee moments because they'd been initiated into the cult of Pegging. XD
So, in other life-like news, the housing drama is finally on its last leg. For the last week, tho, it was getting more dramaful and nail-bitey by the day. Delicious. (For those who haven't been on the receiving end of my nerves about this: I move to Chicago in 24 days now, and still don't officially have a place to put my shit.)
The Catholic Worker House that was my first option initially asked if they could just see my application materials to enter the volunteer program, and my director forwarded them the same day. They met today and decided that since the materials were a year old, they needed supplemental materials to even consider them...but really what they need is to meet me. They meet 90% of their applicants, and apparently should be making that a requirement, since that's the damn tone they're taking. Their director suggested I just come to their house right away when I get to Chicago, live there a week, and then find a different place to live for a week while they deliberate. And have a backup in case they reject me.
FUCK. THAT. NOISE. I'm just gonna live with an established volunteer program instead. My director and I decided it, I'm making the official calls first thing in the morning, and then it'll all be settled. I can move in straight off, soon's I get to Chicago, and the six ladies I'll be living with (one of whom I'll be working with too, for a nice bonus of get-to-know-you time) will move in the week after me. I'll have a stable apartment situation, planned-in socializing time, a parish community I'll be welcomed into with open arms, and no freaking hoops to jump through for any of it.
