Yuletide!
Dear Yuletide,
Apologies for the lateness of this correspondence, for I am not particularly good at keeping up and life got in the way. I hear that you are doing well and that your family has grown substantially - good for you! - and that it’s that time of the year again, when you get all jovial about gifts. You may have already gone shopping for me, and if you have that’s fine - if you haven’t, please read the enclosed for ideas, particularly if you are having difficulty in narrowing it down at all.
C&P From Last Year:
My likes and dislikes aren't very well defined. I like characters to be in-character, unless they go through some kind of character development, in which case I like them to develop accordingly. I like the world to work in a way that makes consistent sense, and I will note that since a great deal of my fandoms are video game related, I do not like game mechanics to crop up in my video game fic (I make the exception for humor, but it had best be hilarious). I like drama. I like fluff. I have a dark sense of humor, but am perfectly happy with sweetness and light. I like character interaction on all levels. I am easily drawn towards thieves, mischief, magic, possession/mind control, strong female characters, female characters in general, incidental female characters, heterosexual best friends, plot, betrayal, forgiveness, and redemption... among other things I'm probably not thinking of at the moment.
New This Year:
The Last Unicorn - Molly Grue
A Molly Grue story! I'll take anything from her past or post-The Last Unicorn, or even during if you prefer. Adding in Schmendrick somehow would be awesome, but don't feel obligated. (I *still* haven't read Two Hearts, though, so no spoilers please!)
Last year I got a Schmendrick story. So this year I figured I’d ask for a Molly story along the same lines, especially since last year I was torn between the two. (Yuletide seems to be the go-to place for The Last Unicorn stories anyway!)
Legend of Mana - Escad, Heroine
I would like to see an Escad-centric fic set after the Faerie arc. I imagine that he'd be pretty burned out after living solely for revenge for so long; possibly more so if Daena beats him to it. So I'd like to see him coming to terms. Can be Gen; can include the hero in addition to or instead of the heroine. Bonuses for Daena, Larc, or any of the Wisdoms. Please no Elazul, Heroine/Elazul. Please no character-bashing.
Escad and Daena are probably my favorite playable NPCs in the game. I alternately love and hate the situation they’re placed in within the game itself. As far as Escad is concerned, I think he got the short end of the fandom stick, which is why this request is about him and not Daena.
As for the heroine... I like seeing what people come up with in terms of characters. And I like female characters (see above). But I wouldn’t be put out if you swapped her with the hero instead.
Apparently I omitted Sierra from the bonuses list, but you’d still get a bonus for her, since I love her too. In fact, pretty much everybody except for Elazul: I’m burned out on Elazul. The rest of the Jumi are a-okay.
Lost Odyssey - Seth
The game merely touches upon Aneira, but it is enough to make me curious. I'd like to see something with Seth and Aneira doing. whatever it is they did during the near-thousand years they were together. Bonus points for delving into the mysterious of the white-winged clan and beyond-the-mirrors peoples themselves.
Seth is my favorite immortal by a hairsbreadth. Arguably. Some days she isn’t, but we won’t go into those. In addition, I tend to get fascinated by the tiniest details in games that you would not believe. For LO, Aneira is one of those things.
Ultima - Dupre
When you join the Fellowship, it always seemed to me that Dupre is the most annoyed with you (especially if you wear the medallion). I always wondered if there was something more to that than was shown. So, if possible, I'd like to see this potential Dupre-Fellowship connection explored. Feel free to add other Companions/Enemies/NPCs/The Avatar as you see fit, although I'd rather not have the bland U8/U9 Avatar on board if it can be avoided.
On the 0.00004% chance this is the one you’re eyeing up - I’m one of those fen that ignores Ascension and picks at Pagan for the good bits and rejects the rest. I’m not hugely fond of Companion/Avatar or Companion/Companion romance, due to their being based on real people and all. I can't really think of much to put here other than, OMG, ULTIMA, YAY!
