He rested a while. In half-dreamed wonder, he thought of the many things. Old things that few ever thought of in waking flittered across his mind. He felt at peace, and wondered if this was a secret of the sea. He wondered how to find them.
There was a legend that the observant could hear whispered songs in the ocean, that it had its own voice that lured the whales and the dolphins and seals from the dryside long ago. Ecco listened now. He heard the soft chaos of the ocean, but nothing resembling song.
